When the Israelites came out of
Egypt they were commanded to take time to rejoice,
"And
you and the Levites and the aliens among you shall rejoice in all the good
things the Lord your God has given to you
and
your household." Deut. 26:11.
How much more, as Jesus has brought
us directly into God's family, should we rejoice in what God has done for
us personally, as a church and in the lives of our friends and family!
Thus, our theme for the 2009 New England Christian Conference is
REJOICE.!
This summer marks the 30th anniversary
of the Boston Church of Christ. Thirty years ago in the famous "living
room" of the Gempels, the 30 "would be disciples" gathered
and planned in what became the Boston Church of Christ. From that
modest beginning the church spread throughout New England, the United
States and all over the world!
Our sub theme, Restoration, focuses
on remembering our roots as part of the restoration movement and the rejoicing
that comes from our life long commitment to God's word. Gordon Ferguson
will be speaking on "Going Back to Go Forward" as the keynote
for this theme. The second sub theme, Reunion, focuses on
the joy we have through the relationships with each other we have had throughout
the years. We will celebrate the bonds that have been built as we
continue to "fight the good fight" together to win souls
worldwide. Saturday evening will be a special time of reunion, remembrance
and concert to help all of us remember and rejoice in what God has done.
The final sub theme, Revival, is to help us restore
the joy of our salvation as we revive our hearts to step out in greater
faith than ever before!
Many "heroes of the faith"
will be coming to help us celebrate and renew our commitment to God and
one another including the Bairds, Gempels, Fergusons and Browns.
Please be praying for this time and that the sermons, classes and
fellowship will help us grow to new heights as we remember what God has
done and will continue to do as we stay faithful to Him and His mission.
We hope you will make your plans now
to join us on August 28-30 for this great event! The location has
been moved to the beautiful Rhode Island Convection Center, in Providence, Rhode
Island. This year, the 2009 International Worship Ministry
Conference will also be held at this venue. These events will run
concurrently and will overlap with great times of celebration together
on Saturday night and an incredible worship time on Sunday morning. This
will only enhance the experience for those attending as we are able to
use the talents of brothers and sisters from all over the world as they
lead us in the celebration and worship.
The leadership portion of the
weekend will begin on Friday with a time for small group leaders
that evening. We will be continuing to make this a "family friendly"
event with a "kids kingdom" child care for younger children
on Saturday and programs for the Teens and Preteens on Saturday afternoon.
This will culminate in a great "Reunion time of celebration"
with a presentation and concert on Saturday night. Sunday morning
we expect over 3000 to join us for our worship time and Tom Brown will
deliver our final message entitled, "The Best is Yet To Come!"
Please register early and come
REJOICE with us this summer!
